October 9th, 2008 Update

Hi Friends,

I hope this letter finds you well. If you're anything like me fall is one of the busiest times of the year. I love it for a variety of reasons; the changing colours on the leaves, school starting up and of course football. I've been extremely busy working on our second film Run but I'll save that for later. First things first- I have some exciting news. Season of Dreams will be broadcast on TSN three times in the next couple of weeks. Actually, our Season of Dreams movie has been slightly altered for television, okay that's a lie, it's been dramatically shortened. We needed it to fit into a one hour time slot therefore the new version of Season of Dreams looks more like an infomercial at 47 minutes and ten seconds.

We're still happy and feel blessed that a national network is picking up our little film made on the prairies. You can watch it before the Riders game on October 19th at 11:30 a.m. or on the 24th of October at 2:30 p.m. or on October 29th at 4:30 p.m. Please make sure to get word out to your friends and relatives who live outside the province about the times as they'll be watching a slice of Saskatchewan. If you need to purchase a DVD we still have them for sale at Premium Spas, Western Fitness, Al Anderson's Source for Sports, Brainsport, Iron Works, Parables, and McNally Robinson in Saskatoon, the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in Regina as well as our website at www.seasonofdreams.com. Interestingly, we received a new influx of sales off our website when Ron Lancaster passed away. It occurred to me that our film instantly became a historical piece with Ronnie's passing. We'd like to send our thoughts and prayers to the Lancaster family as well as the Mueller's in Regina.

This summer we spent 14 days in God's country, no we weren't in Alberta, we were on a farm near Laird. The Speiser's, Rudy and Barb, graciously allowed us to film our two hour feature film called Run in and around their farm. It was an experience I'll cherish forever. The actors did a terrific job, the production design by my good friend Tim Halstrom was beautiful and the cinematography by my film partenr Chris Funk was breathtaking. I've spent the last month or so burrowed in my office editing the film and it's now ready for sound editing by Chris and another great friend, Brady Blackmon, our sound designer. The movie is about a family dealing with F.A.S.D. (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) and secrets from the past. We're hoping to get it into some international film festivals including the Toronto Film Festival. If, and it's a big if, if we get it into an international film festival there's potential for it to be picked up by a distributor for theatre distribution. I'll keep you in the loop with the film as well as any new developments with Season of Dreams. If you're interested in being a part of a test audience screening of Run in late November please email me and I'll put you on a list to contact in November. Take care and remember, "He who never walks except where he sees other men's tracks will make no discoveries."

Sincerely,

Tom Simes
