October 17th, 2007 Update

Hello Friends,

We're less than a month from our world premiere of Season of Dreams and both Chris and I are tired, excited, anxious and relieved that the date is fast approaching. We've continued editing and will close the door on it in less than a week. The tension in making a movie is that it is hard to let go because you can massage it indefinitely. Having said that I know that I'll be deeply satisfied and gratified (hey, those two words rhyme) that we made sure to finish strong and to do the best possible job we're capable of.

The media attention that the movie is receiving has been a good thing. Mitch from the Drew Remenda Show was a gentleman and kept me on for half an hour to talk about the film (originally we were scheduled to talk for 10-15 minutes). We're going to be doing some print stories with a number of publications as we draw closer to the opening. Our Season of Dreams website , www.seasonofdreams.com has gotten a lot of hits and I know it's because Terry Ouellette and his wife Theressa Wright did such a fabulous job for us. If you need any website work please contact Terry!

Last night I picked up Glen Suitor at the airport and he did some "pickup narration" for us. Afterwards we went to the Hose and Hydrant for supper. As I was sitting there visiting with Glen I was reminded of what a great guy he is. No wonder the Riders won a Grey Cup with a group of football players like Glen, unselfish and a team guy to the end. I never got home until after midnight but it was a good night and worth the difficulty I had getting up for school this morning.

On Friday we're planning a sneak peak with 20 or so people of the movie at Nutana Collegiate. It's going to be fun and scary to show a real audience what we've done but both Chris and I feel it's necessary to get some average film lovers, not necessarily football fans, to critique our movie before we send it off to be made into DVD's. I've got to go but please get your tickets early and tell all your friends and family about the film so they can see the trailer (on the website) for themselves. I'm going to end this journal entry with a couple of emails we've received this week from people who have checked out our website and looked at our trailer.

Cheers,

Tom Simes
