Hi Friends,
Well here it is, November 12th and our world premiere of Season of Dreams at TCU Place. We knew this day was inevitable, like a slow train coming. I'm feeling excited, nervous and relieved that it's finally happening. The media have been amazingly supportive and I'm grateful for that. Chris and I sat in on John Gormley's radio show Friday morning. He was terrific as usual. I really enjoyed the fact that Chris and I got to do some media together before the big show.
On Saturday a great print article came out in the Star Phoenix and the Regina Leader Post. Kevin Mitchell wrote an accurate and insightful piece on the film. I emailed him that day to thank him because he "got it". This morning I was having coffee at Jerry's with my brother Ken and my dad when the cell phone rang. Steve Chisolm of Magic 98.3 (radio) interviewed me live while I was eating breakfast. It was odd and surprisingly candid, I didn't have time to think. Maybe that's the way I should approach every interview, just empty my mind (my wife Michelle thinks I do that all the time anyways).
At 11:30 am Tara Yolan from CTV news came to our home and did an interview with me. I really appreciated her style, it reminded me of the way we approached our interviews for Season of Dreams. She didn't have a script, she listened to what I was saying and her next question came from the answer I gave her. I can't wait to see the piece she puts together for the news. Esther Madziya is doing her sports show (Global Sports) from TCU Place tonight. I'm so appreciative of Esther and her support of Season of Dreams. She did the very first television piece for us and it was terrific. Thanks Esther for your support! I have to be at TCU Place in just over two hours so I'd better go. Thank you for listening to my rambling over the last year and a half. Thank you for your support. Many of you have emailed me to let me know how much the Season of Dreams updates have meant to you. And to those of you who come tonight, thank you for supporting our world premiere screening. I'm going to continue doing these updates for another month or two, so I'll talk to you soon. If you have time, drop me an email to let me know what you thought of the film.
Cheers,
Tom Simes
