Good day friends,
It's been nearly a month since our last Season of Dreams update. As usual it's been eventful. A ten-minute trailer of our film/documentary was previewed at the Dog's Breakfast. Considering how tight and full their program is we were humbled that they'd show it at all (thanks B.T.) It seemed to be well received as Ron Lancaster referred to it on a couple of occasions when he gave his speech. In fact Hugh Vassos mentioned to me that Ron insisted that he be given the trailer before he left.
Speaking of Hugh, a couple of weeks ago we sat down and he shared with me his thoughts on how we could most effectively premiere Season of Dreams. To say the least Hugh's proposal is much bigger in scope than what we've imagined for the film. We're also very flattered that Hugh sees that much potential in the documentary. We'll keep you posted when we have a big announcement regarding our world premiere of Season of Dreams.
In the last week we've completed 21 minutes of the film. Both Chris and I are thrilled and excited that we're finally working on the real deal rather than sifting through endless hours of footage (90 hours to be exact). The intro is compelling and dramatic; it feels like a movie as opposed to a documentary. In fact the film seems to flip back and forth from a documentary feel to a movie feel seamlessly. It'll be interesting to see how people connect with it.
Well, I've got to go. We're meeting good friends for supper at the Red Lobster on 8th Street (yum). The next time I write to you it will be a full year since I started writing this journal on our experience making this film. In fact it's been two years since I started the ball rolling on Season of Dreams! Time does fly when you're having fun. Talk to you soon. Take care and give your family a hug.
Regards,
Tom Simes
