June 29, 2006 Update

Hi gang,

This is my last update until I get back from teaching my movie-making course in Canmore. I know it's rough, but someone's got to do it, so it might as well be me! Some exciting news from this week, a big thanks to Hugh Vassos for inviting me along for the tour of the Field House and Griffiths Stadium with the CIS dignitaries. We got a great interview with Peter Metuzals, the director of marketing for CIS athletics. He said some very nice things about our fine province and about the organizing of the Vanier Cup. I also want to thank Jim Hopson and Cliff David for their encouraging words.

A big thanks to Ryan Whippler (marketing whiz for the Riders) for his generous support of our documentary. It's people like Ryan that reminds me of how great this province is! We're filming some valuable events surrounding the 40th anniversary of the Riders first Grey Cup next weekend and it is going to be crucial footage for our documentary.

While I'm thanking people I need to thank both Barry Rawlyk (head coach of the Holy Cross Crusaders) and Clay Kirby (head coach of the Hague Panthers) for their enthusiasm and support of the documentary. We feel extremely blessed and honored to be following these two fine programs this fall.

I just got an email from Catriona Lemay Doan and we're negotiating an interview with her either this summer or in the fall sometime. I've also emailed Gordie Howe and his son Marty emailed me a very nice reply. If any of you know Gordie personally, we'd love to have him on board. That's about it for now. I'll be in touch in early August, if you have any ideas, comments or people you think we need to interview please email me. I value your input greatly. Have a great summer.

Regards,
