December 19, 2006 Update

Dear Friends,

This is our last Season of Dreams update for 2006. It has been a very gratifying ten months to say the least. I feel like we've had a football hangover for the last three weeks and now it's time to move on to the editing stage.

Since talking to you last we attended two-year end banquets. Two weeks ago today we were invited to the Hague Panthers football banquet. The food was awesome, the guest speaker (Tyler Dueck) was understated and eloquent. Clay and Stewey said some terrific things about the kids and the season ended on a high note.

A week and a half ago we filmed the Huskie banquet, held at the Travel Lodge. Thanks Hobbsy for inviting us. We interviewed a number of players, coaches, parents and those associated with the team (Hugh Vassos, Bill Seymour etc). B.T. sent out a challenge to the guys at the end of the banquet that fired me up, so I can't imagine what it did for the boys. It was a terrific way to end the year, looking ahead instead of dwelling on the past.

Today I had the good fortune of interviewing Reggie Hunt of the Saskatchewan Rough Riders. Reggie is from Texas and he has a great story. He lives in Saskatchewan year round and works for Sasktel in the off-season. I met him a week ago, as Sasktel spends a lot of time at Nutana Collegiate partnering with us. Reggie had some excellent sound bites and he's a very sincere individual. I guess you could say he inspired me.

In the next couple of weeks we plan on interviewing Ned Powers (he wrote the 60th anniversary book on the Hilltops), Tim Kroeker (C.F.L./C.I.S./Junior Football/High School official) and hopefully Dan Farthing (former Holy Cross Crusader/Huskie/Rough Rider). Chris has started doing some preliminary editing and he tells me the footage is great.

In closing, have a very merry Christmas and an amazing New Year. All the best to you in 2007. We'll talk soon.

Sincerely Yours,

Tom Simes
