Hi Y'all,
Spring has finally sprung here in Saskatchewan! Hallelujah and Amen! How do I know this fact? Our neighbours invited us over for a fire pit a couple of nights ago, a time tested tradition of prairie folks, and one you don't do in the wintertime! Another clue that spring is here is the Dog's Breakfast, which happens on Thursday and the Huskie/Hilltop spring camps starting up next weekend.
Last weekend we premiered a ten-minute trailer of Season of Dreams at the Football Saskatchewan annual football coaches clinic. By all accounts the trailer was a success. I struggled with sending it to Regina feeling the trailer was only scratching the surface of what the movie is really about. What can you do, the exposure was a godsend, thanks Jeff (Yausie) for your continued support.
On Thursday, at the Dog's Breakfast, we're showing a revised edition of our ten-minute trailer with more of a Huskie slant to it. I actually like it better than the other trailer, we have some snippets from Russ Jackson, Chris Walby, Chris Cuthbert, and Bob Hughes as well as a few hilarious comments from Cal Hobbes (assistant coach of the Huskies).
The editing for the film is going really well. I think the fact that the weather is nice and the days are longer have picked Chris and my sprits up considerably. We can also see light at the end of the tunnel. Initially we were shooting for a June premiere of the film at the Broadway Theatre here in Saskatoon but we've bumped the premiere to September. It's an obvious time to show it as September is the startup of the school year as well as the beginning of the football season.
In conjunction with our Broadway Theatre premiere we're also planning a "Season of Dreams Tour". This really excites us as we are taking the movie to rural Saskatchewan. We'll give you more details about the tour in the coming weeks. Take care, fire up the barbeque, kick up your feet and enjoy the warm weather! Chow for now.
Regards,
Tom Simes
